WHY SHOULD YOU SEND A REFERRAL?

  • You have a concern about your student.

  • You believe he or she could benefit from speaking to a counselor. 

WHAT HAPPENS ONCE YOU SEND A REFERRAL?

Once a referral has been received, I will make contact with the student. I will address the concern, and make a plan to assist the student. 

WHAT INFORMATION WILL BE SHARED WITH YOU?

The counselor- student relationship is built on trust. The American School Counselor Association (ASCA) emphasizes the importance of confidentiality between school counselors and students, while recognizing the rights of parents. I will share information with parents if the student gives me permission, and/or in the case of child abuse or neglect, harm to self, or harm to others.
